About ACDO:

Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political and non-profit humanitarian organization founded in 2014 register with the Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GoIRA) under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk and underserved people throughout the country.

ACDO responds to the needs of disadvantaged and marginalized rural and urban communities by managing and utilizing the available scars resources in a well, efficient, transparent and dignified manner to enhance resilience, boost access to education, ensure food and livelihood security, and promote social protection and inclusion.

ACDO has active presence at least in nine provinces in five regions of the country and intends to expand its operations to the remaining provinces as well with the aim to transform itself into a leading and developed organization which will deliver to and support significant number of people who had been affected by the long protracted and sudden on-set emergencies in Afghanistan. Regardless of the hardest circumstances that existed in Afghanistan in 2022 and 2021, ACDO has managed to deliver humanitarian and development assistance in Nangarhar, Herat, Balkh, Kabul, Kandahar, Bamyan, Wardak, Jawzjan, Paktia, Kunduz, Takhar, Laghman, Daykundi and Farah provinces.

Job Description:

  • Conduct surveys and assessments in the communities and provide feedback and suggestions for the strengthening and development of the CBS, ECCD, and Remedial education program.
  • Create positive relations with CDCs, student parents and SMC through regular meetings and discussions for identifying and addressing education needs and issues.
  • Lead community-based mobilization and sensitization meetings with DCMs and introduce remedial project activities to project beneficiaries with the help of DCMs as per the needs of the community.
  • Support DCMs in project location and project beneficiaries targeting strategy and criteria as per the need of the DCMs.
  • Create plans for conducting School Management Shuras with community members and elders to monitor and support the CBS, ECCD, and Remedial activities in the community.
  • Regularly monitoring of CBSs, ECCD, and Remedial Classes and giving daily, weekly and monthly reports to the project officer.
  • Facilitate the establishment of CBSs, ECCDs, and Remedial Classes and ensure the registration and integration of students and teachers in the MoE formal system.
  • Establish and maintain productive work relationships and coordinate activities with PED, DED, Hub Schools, SMS DCMs, Parents, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure transparency in classroom repair/maintenance and material distribution activities in the community and records.
  • Take part in the process of beneficiary identification and registration and prepare all needed documents.
  • Conduct campaigns and training for raising awareness about gender, especially for the improvement of female education and their further participation in education.
  • Conduct meetings and trainings for other members of the provincial education team like teachers, volunteers, DCMs, and School Shura members to develop their capacity in planning and implementing CBSs, ECCDs, and Remedial activities as per the recommendation of DCMs, district coordinator, and Provincial coordinator.
  • Conducting all types of training at village, district, and provincial levels.
  • Preparation of all training supportive documents (Manual, Attendance sheet, Participant list, Payment sheet, Stationary, Banners and Activity Completion Report).
  • Support the child protection staff and community-based committees in case management under the child protection component of the project.
  • Communities aware of project objectives, outputs, activities, MEAL systems, ACDO’s Child Protection Policies, ACDO’s PSEA and Gender policy.
  • Facilitate project activities information at all events such as training, workshops and awareness sessions.
  • Provide classroom support for teachers inside the Remedials, ECCDs, and CBS classes and Guide the teachers for standard class visibility.
  • Follow up day-by-day and guide teachers at the field level.
  • Assist joint monitoring visits with the government officials (district relevant authorities) to the project sites.
  • Support implementation of project baseline, mid-term, and final evaluation.
  • Support and advocate school Shuras to fill full their activities and guide them accordingly.
  • Develop project weekly narrative reports and submit them to the Provincial Project Officer timely.
  • Any other related task as assigned by the Provincial Project Officer,  Project manager and/or Senior Management Team (SMT).

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • At least 16th grade graduate
  • Master degree with 2 years of relevant experience, bachelor degree holder with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the relevant or similar position in humanitarian projects is required.

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skill in Pashto /Dari, skills in English will also be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the community structure, dynamics and development.
  • At least two years of experience in community mobilization, particularly for community participation, conflict resolution and resource mobilization.
  • Knowledge of the value of education in Holy Islam, the child development and the current trends of education in Afghanistan.
  • Ability to cope well under pressure, work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines
  • Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments in a timely manner often under severe time pressures
  • Experience in needs assessment, project monitoring and evaluation, and program development
  • Good knowledge and experience in Afghanistan education system/context, education in emergencies (EiE), and child protection (CP)
  • Experience in coordination with government authorities, communities, donors and beneficiaries

Language skills:

  • Fluent oral and written skills in Pashto and Dari, fluent in English is plus point
