About ACDO:

Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political and non-profit humanitarian organization founded in 2014 register with the Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GoIRA) under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk and underserved people throughout the country.

ACDO responds to the needs of disadvantaged and marginalized rural and urban communities by managing and utilizing the available scars resources in a well, efficient, transparent and dignified manner to enhance resilience, boost access to education, ensure food and livelihood security, and promote social protection and inclusion.

ACDO has active presence at least in nine provinces in five regions of the country and intends to expand its operations to the remaining provinces as well with the aim to transform itself into a leading and developed organization which will deliver to and support significant number of people who had been affected by the long protracted and sudden on-set emergencies in Afghanistan. Regardless of the hardest circumstances that existed in Afghanistan in 2022 and 2021, ACDO has managed to deliver humanitarian and development assistance in Nangarhar, Herat, Balkh, Kabul, Kandahar, Bamyan, Wardak, Jawzjan, Paktia, Kunduz, Takhar, Laghman, Daykundi and Farah provinces.

Job Description:

  • Conduct surveys and assessments in the communities and provide feedback and suggestions for the strengthening and development of the CBE education program.
  • Create positive relations with communities CDCs, SMC, and DED through regular meetings and discussions for identifying and addressing education needs and issues.
  • Lead community-based mobilization and sensitization meetings and introduce ECCD Project activities, CBSs Project activities, and Remedial Classes to project beneficiaries.
  • Support project location and project beneficiaries targeting strategy and criteria.
  • Create plans for establishing School Shuras with community members and elders to monitor and support the ECCD/CBSs/Remedial Classes’ activities in the community.
  • Regularly monitoring ECCDs/CBSs/Remedial Classes and giving daily, weekly and monthly reports to the Provincial Officer and/ or Provincial Coordinator
  • Facilitate the establishment of ECCD, CBSs, Remedial Classes and ensure the registration and integration of students and teachers in the MoE formal system.
  • Establish and maintain productive work relationships and coordinate activities with PED, DED, Hub Schools, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure transparency in classroom repair/maintenance and material distribution activities in the community and records.
  • Take part in the process of beneficiary identification and registration.
  • Conduct campaigns and training for raising awareness about gender, especially for the improvement of female education and their further participation in education.
  • Develop and maintain a network of external contacts with key individuals in the government, NGO sector, and civil society at the district level.
  • Support feedback mechanisms within the project to ensure voices from direct beneficiaries and the wider community are continuously shared, captured, and fed into project activities.
  • Support the child protection staff and community-based committees in case management under the child protection component of the project.
  • Communities aware of project objectives, outputs, activities, MEAL systems and ACDO Child Protection Policies.
  • Facilitate project activities information at all events such as training, workshops and awareness sessions.
  • Provide classroom support for teachers inside the ECCDs, CBSs, and Remedial classes.
  • Follow up on day-by-day project activities and guide teachers at the field level.
  • Assist joint monitoring visits with the government officials (district relevant authorities) and main office visit to the project sites.
  • Support the implementation of project baseline, mid-term, and final evaluation.
  • Support and advocate school Shuras to fulfil their activities and guide them accordingly.
  • Support and organize proper mothers’ groups as per the project activities and scope.
  • Be supportive with the logistics companies while distributing the kits for the students.
  • Support the community engagement and mobilization/ community mobilization campaigns.
  • Support and monitor school improvement plan (SIP) including WASH (minor repairing of classroom and WASH facilities).
  • Support the green school initiatives in provision of library book-banks and laboratory materials for hub-schools provided by the organization.
  • Be able to organize and conduct training for the ECCDs, CBSs, Remedial Classes teachers.
  • Raise awareness among children and communities on handwashing, environmental sanitation, and personal hygiene.
  • Develop weekly project narrative reports and submit them to the Provincial Officer in a timely.
  • Any other related task as assigned by the Provincial Officer and/or Provincial Coordinator.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • At least 16th grade graduate
  • Master degree with 2 years of relevant experience, bachelor degree holder with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the relevant or similar position in humanitarian projects is required.

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skill in Pashto /Dari, skills in English will also be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the community structure, dynamics and development.
  • At least two years of experience in community mobilization, particularly for community participation, conflict resolution and resource mobilization.
  • Knowledge of the value of education in Holy Islam, the child development and the current trends of education in Afghanistan.
  • Ability to cope well under pressure, work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines
  • Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments in a timely manner often under severe time pressures
  • Experience in needs assessment, project monitoring and evaluation, and program development
  • Good knowledge and experience in Afghanistan education system/context, education in emergencies (EiE), and child protection (CP)
  • Experience in coordination with government authorities, communities, donors and beneficiaries

Language skills:

  • Fluent oral and written skills in Pashto and Dari, fluent in English is plus point
