Job Summary
The Deputy Branch Manager supports the Branch Manager in overseeing branch operations, portfolio performance, staff supervision, client service delivery, and implementation of institutional policies in line with Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) regulations and Islamic microfinance principles. The role ensures operational efficiency, portfolio quality, and compliance with approved financing procedures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Branch Operations & Supervision
- Support the Branch Manager in daily branch operations and staff supervision.
- Ensure smooth implementation of operational procedures and workflow.
- Act on behalf of the Branch Manager during authorized absence.
2. Financing Process Support
- Review and assess client financing applications prior to approval.
- Verify client eligibility, business activities, repayment capacity, and supporting documents.
- Ensure proper client assessment and field verification is completed before financing approval.
- Support adherence to Islamic financing procedures and institutional guidelines.
3. Portfolio Management
- Monitor portfolio performance and ensure maintenance of acceptable PAR levels.
- Follow up on overdue installments and support collection and recovery activities.
- Identify early warning signs of delinquency and report to Branch Manager.
- Support implementation of portfolio risk management strategies.
4. Client Service & Relationship Management
- Support high-quality client service delivery at branch level.
- Assist in maintaining strong relationships with clients and local community stakeholders.
- Ensure timely response to client inquiries and service-related issues.
5. Compliance & Internal Control
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and DAB regulations.
- Support proper documentation and filing of all financing cases.
- Assist internal audit, compliance checks, and operational reviews.
- Report any irregularities or operational risks to Branch Manager.
6. Reporting
- Assist in preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly operational and portfolio reports.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of branch performance reporting.
- Support data validation and MIS updates.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in banking or Islamic microfinance operations.
- Strong understanding of Islamic microfinance principles and Murabaha-based financing.
- Knowledge of portfolio management and PAR monitoring.
- Strong leadership, communication, and supervisory skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications and MIS/core banking systems.
- Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto; English is an advantage.
