Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private, not‐for‐profit health care systems in the developing world with community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as in East Africa.
The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.
AKHS, A is currently implementing healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Kabul and Takhar provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary healthcare, preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. As BPHS and EPHS implementer, AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwives.
AKHS, A draws on internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary support to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A has introduced innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is also implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission initiatives.
Job Description:
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
1.Implementation of standard. /EPI system in Health facility Level.
- Regular supply of vaccine to HFs
- Familiar with cold chain management
- Regular supervision of HFs through EPI check list, QQC check list and ACASIS
- Reporting collection and entry to DHIS2
- Data Processing and analysis
- Entering the health data collected from HFs to. /EPI data base
- Calculation of Indicators and rate of changes
- Information presentation:
- Presentation of analysed data in summary tables and graphs
- Interpretation of Information:
- Assess the quality of data
- Assess the EPI report with each other.
- Decision making:
- Find out probable causes of problems
- Find out possible solutions
- Define additional information needed to understand the problem.
- Define necessary actions needed
- Provide monthly written feedback to the Office and HFs/ focusing mainly on EPI Reports
2.Capacity building of Staff of HFs:
- Improving quality of EPI activities by followings:
- Regular supervision of HFs as needed
- On-job training of staff of HFs on EPI related issues during supervision visit
- Conducting. /EPI refresher training for staff of HFs.
- Assist the technical officer in training Need Assessment of staff of HF
3.Coordination/Collaboration
- With Community Shura
- With HQ office per need
- National EPI MOPH through HQ
- Provincial Health Department, MoPH
4.Reporting
- Prepare Field Visit Report
- Prepare monthly personal activity report
- Prepare monthly /EPI Report of HFs
- Submission of copy of EPI Reports collected to provincial EPI Officer.
- As per need Reporting to PHD,
- Assist the Project manager/Technical Officer in preparation of Monthly, Quartely and Annual Progress Report
Job Requirements:
- At least 2-3 years experiences of working in filed of EPI r in NGOs.
- Familiarity with BPHS
- Registered Medical Doctor or Nurse/Pharmacist/Midwife. Preference will be given to Medical Doctors.
- Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Computer knowledge and English language is advantageous
- Technical Skills:
- Operating Systems: Advanced Excel and Access
- Application Tools: MS Office, Mail.
- Personal Characteristics:
- Be able to work independently/ in a team
- Do whatever related job is delegated by the Project manager/Program Coordinator.
