About Afghan Family Guidance Association |AFGA:
Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is an Afghan non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization established in 1968. AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive health and Rights since its inception and has recently become an associate member of International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).
AFGA activities were suspended due to war and conflict in the country for ten years (1992-2002) and resumed its activities in 2002 with financial support from International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).
IPPF is an alliance of 151 family planning associations known as Member Associations which has projects in over 180 countries. IPPF continues to be the largest civil society provider of reproductive health information and services in the world.
Job Description:
Job Summary:
AFGA is implementing the reproductive health in emergency project across the country. The main aim of this project is to contribute to the prevention of maternal and child mortality and morbidity during humanitarian settings. AFGA is seeking a qualified person for the position of project coordinator to contribute to the coordination of different activities of the project, including supporting the emergency response teams across three regions, coordinating medical and non-medical supplies with partner agencies, and supporting the direct service provision through MHTs working for emergency-affected and the most vulnerable population, particularly women and children. Under the direct supervision of the AFGA program manager, the project coordinator will be responsible for overall supervision of the humanitarian activities.
Specific Responsibilities:
Project management:
- The humanitarian project coordinator will be responsible for overall management and supervision of the AFGA humanitarian activities.
- Developing a project activities plan (weekly, monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and annual).
- Tracking and supervision of the project-approved plans and regular update and follow-up of the ongoing and completed activities.
- Contributing to the program proposal, work plan with the donor, and activities revision plans development.
- Collection and analysis of the project services data and writing a report, both internally and for project donors.
- Leading the project visibility and success documentation, and communicating with stakeholders.
- Conducting regular supervision of the project activities, providing on-the-job training to the project staff, and following up on the implementation of action plans for service quality improvement.
- Contributing to the project monitoring and evaluation activities and leading the implementation of the M&E department's plan for the service quality improvement.
- Supporting AFGA departments for the project-related activities on administrative, HR, and finance issues.
- Preparing the project reports for both AFGA and the project donors, and submission of the reports.
- Conducting continuous supportive supervision of the project activities, reporting, and finding gaps, and conducting on-the-job training for the project staff.
- The humanitarian coordinator will be the focal person for AAP and the community feedback mechanism, supporting person for regular data collection, analysis, and reporting to the donor and AFGA management.
- Contributing to the donor and AFGA visibility improvement activities, including collecting the project activities' success stories and documenting all the results of the project.
Coordination:
- The humanitarian project coordinator will be the main focal person for AFGA humanitarian activities with the project donor.
- The staff will be representing AFGA in all humanitarian coordination forums (OCT, RMNCAHiE coordination meeting, health cluster, and so on).
- The humanitarian project coordinator will be the main focal person for all AFGA Emergency Response Team (ERT) at the central level and will provide support in the administrative and other relevant activities.
- The humanitarian coordinator will be representing AFGA in all coordination activities taking place at the central level (UN agencies, governmental offices, and other stakeholders).
- Contributing to the humanitarian access activities on the organizational and donor level.
Financial management:
- Supporting the program manager in the project financial plan preparation.
- Leading all the project financial processes with AFGA finance and other departments.
- Regular and close supervision of the project resources utilization and submission of a comprehensive report on the progress.
- Contributing to the project's financial, procurement, logistics, HR, and administrative process on main office level.
Job Requirements:
- Graduated from a well-known medical university with completion of the MoPH exit exam process.
- 5-10 years proven experience in the field of medical humanitarian projects management, with more focus on RH activities.
- Fluent in the English language with both speaking and writing.
- Good report writing skills
- The priority will be given to candidates with previous experience in humanitarian projects.
- Fluent in Dari and Pashto languages.
- Good coordination skills and abilities with strong analytical skills.
- Ability in the field of conflict management and resolution
