About AWN:

After the United Nation Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, China, where a group of women from various organizations and agencies of the United Nation participated; the theory to form a network for the Afghan women's cooperation and integration developed. With inspire from women's movement in different part of the world; finally, in 1995 participants (women) of the conference decided to establish Afghan Women’s Network (AWN).

Afghan Women's Network is the foundation for Afghan women's movement, which serves as a stable network for growth of those women's organizations they are active in the country.

Afghan Women's Network has active and considerable presence in Kabul, Herat, Balkh, Kandahar, Bamyan, Paktia, Nangarhar and Kunduz, and is also active through its member in other provinces of Afghanistan. Afghan Women's Network works as the umbrella for its member organizations. As well as projects related to issues (gender-based violence, strengthening of youth and education for girls) implement with coordination of its member. Afghan Women's Network has over then 3500 individual members and 140 women's organizations in its membership. The AWN envisions an Afghanistan in which women & men live in a justice and discrimination free society.

Job Description:

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Develop and effectively manage program timelines to ensure timely completion of program deliverables;
  2. Monitor program activities to ensure quality and accuracy of AWN work outcomes vis-à-vis contractual and grant commitments;
  3. Working closely with M&E Unit for assessing program and projects performances making sure that M&E reports and its timely submission to the required donors;
  4. Initiation and Active participation in development of projects’ proposals and concept notes with minimum support and guidance from program unit side for novel opportunities and devolve tasks to the respective team members;
  5. Making sure of proper filling system both in soft and hard form for all projects under the project title, date and duration of project;
  6. Initiate extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the program are identified or issues arise;
  7. Manage and coordinate programmatic meetings including managing logistical contractors;
  8. Facilitate small- and large-group meetings and trainings;
  9. Develop publications, grant applications, and reports through collaborative writing and editing;
  10. To be responsible to develop and manages project status reports, periodic budgets, personnel hiring plans and regular communications with Program Manager;
  11. Provide monthly weekly and quarterly narrative reports, progress reports to donors until reports are finalized and accepted by donors;
  12. Perform any other program related tasks assigned by the Program Manager 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in social science preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Management or any other related field;
  • At least five (5) years of experience in projects’ design and implementation, & results based management;
  • Excellent writing and analytical skill in drafting concept notes and proposals;
  • Knowledge and experience in designing projects in the context of today’s Afghanistan- would be a clear added advantage;
  • Experience working within the Development agencies preferably in non-government system;
  • Proficiency in spoken and written both English and local language/s is required.
  • Understanding and knowledge of basic computer applications such as MS Words, Excel and data base management.
