2. About SUN Project:
The SUN (Stabilization of Urban Neighborhoods) project is a 32-months initiative to stabilize urban neighborhoods in Kabul, Afghanistan through the implementation of a participatory, community-led approach for community development in 7 selected target areas. The project works to increase social cohesion in Kabul, specifically through engaging young people in decision-making and through supporting community-driven socio-economic development.
Forming Local Action Groups (LAGs), local volunteer committees in collaboration with community members identify local development priorities and support implementation of local projects such as the renovation of community spaces, supporting local civil society, culture, sports, business opportunities for youths which benefit the community, as well as basic infrastructure services aligned with the existing development plan of government. Making use of new technological platforms, SUN will be a fast-moving, high-impact project reaching youth in Kabul in new and innovative ways working on peaceful social development and opening up prospects for youth of the country.
3. The Rationality of Hiring translator:
In course of implementation of the project, SUN produces number of documents in local language. Additionally sun kicked off the full proposal for sub-project through which we are expecting huge number of applications will be submitted in local languages. We need to share these guidelines, manuals and proposals with donor and monitoring consultant. Having said that, it is important to translate the documents into English.
Summary of the required services
SUN is seeking the services of local translators for professional translations of manuals, guidelines, proposals from Dari and Pashto to English.
4. Start and End date:
3 months once the agreement signed
5.Major Job Responsibilities:
Translate Documents from Dari, Pashto to English and vice versa.
Minimum 2800 words at least per day from Dari and Pashto to English.
Working days: 5 working days per week.
Make necessary revisions following the instructions of supervisors
Be professional about grammar and linguistics terms while translating
6. Requirements:
We require at least one-year experience in Translation from Dari and Pashto to English. However, fresh graduates from university are encouraged to apply.
Graduates with a degree in English language or translation is preferred. However, having very good command in English from other subjects are encouraged to apply.
Professional writing command in English is required.
Must have own laptop and own internet system.
Having basic understanding on editing and proofreading.
Having good understanding of English Grammar, Punctuations and Syntax
Should follow accuracy and pay attention to detail
Adherence to timelines, thinking creatively to increase productivity.
Able to follow guidelines and instructions set by Mercy Corps.
7. Privacy Protection and other things to consider:
In no cases, google translation, copy/paste from similar documents, auto generated translation or using any internet means of translation will not be accepted. If found such, the contract will be immediately terminated.
The Agency/Individuals must adhere to privacy and confidentiality protocols set by the SUN program.
The agency/Individuals must not share any document or information sent for translation with any agencies/individual/groups.
Do not share the data/photo/personal information to any party except Mercy Corps Afghanistan or assigned by Mercy Corps Afghanistan.
Except the cost mentioned in the section 7, Mercy Corps Afghanistan will not pay any other additional cost like internet, transportation etc.

Payment will be done on a monthly basis based on the quoted and agreed upon prices in mutually signed contract.

Submissions to be done in hard copy to Mercy Corps Office: The RFQ package should be stamped and signed in an envelope and submit it to Mercy Corps Afghanistan Kabul Office.House # 221, Street # 5th, Qala-e- Fathullah, Kabul, Afghanistan by COB 7th July 2021. No later than 3:30pm or the companies and individual can make electronic submission of the package to the e-mail address mentioned in below.
