The project’s key objectives include:

  1. Construction of 500 Permanent Shelters in South-eastern Region (SER) of Afghanistan for families who have been affected by wars and have lost their homes or were forced to be displaced from their native places. These shelters aim to facilitate return of returning Afghans back to their own villages/places and provide them with a safe accommodation. Construction of these permanent shelters is designed for 12 months including Planning, Implementation, Completion and Handover of the project for targeted population in Paktika, Paktia, Khost and Ghazni provinces of Afghanistan.

In the recent years a huge number of Pakistani refugees have taken refuge in Afghanistan mostly in SER. In Khost province of Afghanistan, these refugees are mostly living with the host families. In order to reduce burden on the host families and provide ease in accommodation for the refugees, 300 Transition Shelters will be provided to the refugees who are living in extremely poor conditions either with host families or in poorly facilitated, make-shift camp type of accommodation.
  3. Construction of three health clinics to provide health care for the denizens. Location for one health clinic is proposed to be in Barmal district of Paktika province. UNHCR in partnership with AHDAA is currently implementing construction of 1000 Permanent Shelters in Barmal district of Paktika province.
