Request For Afghanaid

Request For Assessment and Standardisation of Cold Storage Facilities in CARL Project Provinces

Afghanaid is leading the implementation of the Climate Adaptation and Rural Livelihoods (CARL) Project, a 48-month initiative (2024–2028) that aims to build the resilience of Afghan rural communities to climate change. The project is implemented in Ghor, Ghazni, Nuristan, and Nangarhar provinces by a consortium of partners, with Afghanaid as the lead.

The main objective of the assignment is to assess existing cold storage practices and facilities for fruits and vegetables (not limited to bio-climatic storages), and to provide standardised, practical, and scalable cold storage solutions tailored to the CARL project provinces that are socially inclusive and gender-responsive. These solutions should include technical designs, Bill of Quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, and management models that are feasible, cost-effective, and sustainable.
