GPE-STG Project Description:
Under the GPE–STG project, a consortium led by Aga Khan Foundation-AKF and funded by Global Partnership for Education-PGE is supporting access to quality education in Badghis Province, specifically in Qala-e-Naw center and Qadis District. The project includes 924 Catch-Up Classes, 52 Early Childhood Care and Development-ECD classes, and 3 Community-Based Schools-CBSs established to expand learning opportunities for children in underserved communities.
In addition, 154 formal schools are supported through the provision of Teaching and Learning Materials (TLMs) for both students and teachers. Teachers from these schools will also receive professional training to improve teaching quality and learning outcomes.
The CBSs will be established in targeted communities with active community participation and contribution. Each CBS will consist of 3–5 Community-Based Education (CBE) classes, confirming improved access to education for children who face barriers to attending formal schools.
All teachers of ECD, Catch-Up, and CBS classes will receive TLMs, as well as winterization support and hygiene kits, to ensure a safe, supportive, and conducive learning environment for children throughout the academic year.
