Job Summary

Position Overview: The Finance Officer is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the Project. This role involves managing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis. The Finance officer plays a crucial role in providing strategic financial insights and ensuring the efficient and effective use of financial resources within the project.

Main Responsibilities:

1.     Financial Planning and Analysis:

·       Develop and implement financial planning strategies, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

·       Conduct financial modeling and analysis to support decision-making processes.

·       Monitor financial performance, identify areas of improvement, and recommend corrective actions.

 

2.     Budgeting and Control:

·       Prepare annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts in collaboration with relevant departments and stakeholders.

·       Monitor and control expenditures to ensure adherence to approved budgets.

·       Review and analyze financial statements, reports, and variances, providing explanations and recommendations to senior management.

 

3.     Financial Reporting:

·       Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and financial performance metrics.

·       Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and internal financial policies.

·       Present financial information to senior management, board members, and external stakeholders as required.

 

4.     Financial Operations:

·       Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.

·       Ensure timely and accurate processing of financial transactions and records.

·       Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard financial assets and mitigate risk.

 

5.     Financial Strategy and Decision Support:

·       Provide strategic financial guidance and insights to support organizational decision-making and planning.

·       Assess the financial feasibility of new projects, investments, or initiatives.

·       Identify opportunities for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and efficiency

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements – 

Education:

·        Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience:

·        Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or grants management (preferably with NGOs or donor-funded projects).

·        Strong experience in preparing financial reports, budgeting, and expenditure tracking.

·        Familiarity with donor compliance (e.g., UNICEF, USAID, UNHCR, EU, etc.) is highly desirable.

 

Knowledge & Skills:

·        Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and NGO financial policies.

·        Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, ERP systems) and MS Office (especially Excel).

·        Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

·        Good understanding of audit processes and internal controls.

·        Ability to prepare accurate financial statements and donor reports.

 

Other Requirements:

·        Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

·        High level of integrity, accountability, and confidentiality.

·        Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

·        Fluency in English (spoken and written); knowledge of local languages is an advantage.

Willingness to travel to field offices when required.
