Job Purpose
The WaSH Hygiene Promotor will play a vital role in improving community health and well-being by promoting safe hygiene practices. The position is responsible for conducting data collection, household registration, hygiene awareness sessions, distributing hygiene kits, and fostering positive hygiene behavior change among community members, with a particular focus on mothers and caretakers. By empowering families with knowledge and resources, the Hygiene Promotor will contribute to reducing the risk of waterborne diseases and strengthening community resilience through sustainable hygiene practices.
- Participate in the pre-implementation assessment on the field
- Participate in the identification of Shuras/CHWs/FHAG and other leaders
- Prepare and ensure that materials needed is available and in good quality before going to field
- Plan, organize and realize sessions, according to the methodology defined, with CHWs, Shuras, FHAG and community (men/women) regarding acute malnutrition, complementary feeding, and hygiene/sanitation: basic nutrition, acute malnutrition, personal and environmental hygiene practices, as define by the project PM
- Carry out home-to-home visits for public sessions for men/boys on hygiene issues
- Organize sessions in the communities to identify the deficiencies in terms of hygiene, sanitation and the use of water
- Visit communities on a regular basis and Ahmad Shah Baba Mina hospital TFU.
- Reporting challenges/successes to line manager
- Responsible for the implementing of WASH Soft component activities with close coordination of Roving Field and Emergency Response Manager and works closely to identify communities, beneficiaries and the intervention in targeted communities and Ahmad Shah Baba Mina hospital TFU
- Ensure quality and respect of deadlines of the project soft component activities implementation
- Support the MEAL team to conduct the needs assessment of the targeted communities
- Participate in the organization and the distribution of kits
- Concrete support of project focal point on providing monthly narrative and quantitative update of project
- Ensure all data from the field is provided on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to the project's focal point.
- Participate in preparing training modules for the promotion of hygiene with the supervisor.
- Communication with the other team members and collaboration with the project’s focal point.
- Liaise with the authorities, committees, and beneficiaries based on needs with close coordination of the project’s focal point.
- Support the organization and leading monthly meetings with existing leaders with close coordination of the WASH focal point.
- Apply the methodologies defined for the sensitizing sessions on hygiene promotion
- Write and share a summary of the weekly activities
- Participate in updating of the training tools
- Provide training sessions on hygiene to leaders or other formal/informal actors/groups with close coordination of the WASH focal point
- Organize/facilitate group awareness sessions on hygiene practices for men/women in community and other identified location
- Ensure that cross cutting issues such as protection, gender, environment, and HIV are addressed and mainstreamed in the project.
- Ensure that WASH activities are integrated with other activities for optimum benefit of the beneficiaries
- Report any problem/challenges faced to the WASH focal point and propose possible improvements/solutions
- Ensure that security procedures and guidelines and followed
- Inform project focal point, WASH HoD with all project staff about any security incident that happened in the targeted area.
Undertake any other task assigned by the line manager.
