Job Summary

We are inviting CVs for the position of Project Manager for an integrated climate-resilient livelihoods, forestry, and rangeland management program in rural districts of Badakhshan and Kunar. The Project Manager will hold overall responsibility for planning, field implementation, technical quality, and reporting across both the livelihoods and forestry components. The role will coordinate a multidisciplinary field team, manage relationships with community structures and local stakeholders, and ensure that activities meet agreed technical standards and social and environmental safeguards. The Project Manager will oversee work planning, budget tracking, procurement support, and timely delivery within a tight implementation window. The role will also drive gender-inclusive participation, secure community ownership, and maintain accurate, evidence-based records. The position will call for strong leadership and sound judgment in fragile settings.

Job Requirements

Candidates must hold a master's or bachelor's degree in forestry, rural development, environmental science, engineering, management, or a related field. A minimum of 5 to 7 years of project management experience in rural development, forestry, or integrated programs is required. Applicants must show familiarity with the local socio-political context and fragile environments in Afghanistan, along with proven experience implementing UN or donor-funded projects. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and ensuring gender inclusion is essential. Strong coordination, reporting, and management skills are required. Fluency in Pashto and Dari is required, and proficiency in oral and written English is required. Candidates should be able to manage competing priorities, maintain compliance, and deliver results within short timelines in remote and challenging operating conditions.
