Job Summary

Afghan German Bakhtar Railway Road Building Constriction company is seeking a qualified and experienced Project Manager (Road Construction Project)

The project involves the construction/rehabilitation of a road in Kandahar Province. Project Manager will be responsible for overall planning, execution, supervision,  completion and reporting of the project in accordance with contract requirements, technical specifications, quality standards, and approved timelines.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain positive community relations throughout all phases of road construction activities.
  • Identify, record, and address grievances related to land acquisition, access restrictions, dust, noise, vibrations, and other construction-related disturbances.
  • Conduct regular stakeholder consultations with affected communities along the project corridor.
  • Facilitate communication between the project team and local communities to ensure transparency and trust.
  • Support the implementation and coordination of resettlement and compensation activities, if applicable.
  • Prepare periodic social safeguard, monitoring, and impact assessment reports.
  • Ensure community awareness programs regarding construction schedules, risks, and mitigation measures.
  • Assist in conflict resolution between contractors and local communities.
  • Monitor social risks and propose mitigation measures to minimize negative impacts.
  • Work closely with local authorities, elders, and community representatives to ensure smooth project implementation.

 Deliverables

  • Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) records and reports
  • Monthly social monitoring reports
  • Stakeholder consultation reports
  • Community awareness and engagement reports
  • Social impact and mitigation reports

 Conditions of Employment

  • Full-time assignment based at the project site and surrounding communities.
  • Must maintain regular field presence along the project corridor.
  • Strict compliance with project social safeguard policies and local regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive community and project information.
  • Required to work closely with engineering and construction teams to minimize social impacts.
  • Subject to periodic performance evaluation by the Project Manager.
  • Employment may be terminated in case of non-performance or misconduct.

Job Requirements

  • Education: M.Sc. in Civil Engineering, Road Engineering
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in road/highway construction projects.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts, construction standards, and engineering practices.
  • Experience in Afghanistan or similar challenging environments is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera, AutoCAD is an advantage).
  • The candidate should be speak And write Pashto, Dari fluent  and English
