Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and edit high-quality business development materials.
  • Prepare and support the development of:
    • Technical and financial proposal narratives.
    • Expressions of interest.

    • Service portfolios.
    • Project descriptions.
    • Partnership and investment proposals.
    • Presentations and pitch decks.
    • Client briefs and marketing documents.
  • Translate organizational services, products, achievements, and technical expertise into clear and persuasive value propositions.
  • Prepare content that is tailored to specific clients, partners, donors, investors, and target audiences.
  • Review proposal requirements and ensure that written responses directly address client needs and evaluation criteria.
  • Work with technical experts and relevant departments to collect accurate and relevant information.
  • Maintain a library of approved organizational information, project summaries, staff profiles, success stories, references, and reusable content.
  • Ensure that all business development content is accurate, competitive, coherent, persuasive, and professionally presented.

Website, Digital, and Marketing Content

  • Develop and update content for the organization’s website and landing pages.
  • Write:
    • Website pages.
    • Blog articles.
    • News articles.
    • Online announcements.
    • E-newsletters.
    • Email marketing content.
    • Digital brochures.
    • Factsheets.
    • Campaign materials.
    • Frequently asked questions.
  • Apply basic search engine optimization principles, including:
    • Keyword research.
    • Headings and subheadings.
    • Metadata and descriptions.
    • Internal linking.
    • Readability and web-friendly formatting.
  • Ensure that digital content is clear, concise, engaging, accessible, and appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Review existing online content and recommend improvements to strengthen visibility, accuracy, relevance, and user engagement.
  • Support the development of digital campaigns and online promotional initiatives.

Social Media Content Development and Management Support

The Content Writer will have specific responsibility for developing high-quality social media post content under the direction of the Media Manager.

Key social media responsibilities include:

  • Develop creative, informative, persuasive, and engaging content for social media platforms, including:
    • Facebook.
    • LinkedIn.
    • X/Twitter.
    • Instagram.
    • YouTube.
    • TikTok.
    • Other relevant platforms used by the organization.
  • Prepare social media posts for:
    • Organizational announcements.
    • Service and product promotion.
    • Project updates.
    • Events and conferences.
    • Campaigns and awareness activities.
    • Success stories and impact highlights.
    • Client and partner recognition.
    • Staff achievements and organizational milestones.
    • Industry news and expert insights.
    • Holidays, commemorative days, and special occasions.
    • Recruitment and vacancy announcements.
    • Publications, reports, and new initiatives.
    • Calls to action and lead-generation campaigns.
  • Write platform-specific captions, headlines, short messages, long-form posts, carousel text, polls, questions, calls to action, and campaign messages.
  • Develop content for short-form videos, reels, stories, and other multimedia formats, including:
    • Video scripts.
    • Voice-over scripts.
    • On-screen text.
    • Subtitles and captions.
    • Thumbnail text.
    • Opening hooks and closing calls to action.
  • Prepare monthly and weekly social media content calendars in coordination with the Media Manager.
  • Adapt one core message into different formats suitable for different platforms and audiences.
  • Develop social media campaign themes, key messages, hashtags, and content series.
  • Write content that supports brand awareness, audience growth, engagement, website traffic, inquiries, and business opportunities.
  • Coordinate with graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and digital media staff to ensure that written content aligns with visuals.
  • Review and proofread all social media content before publication.
  • Ensure that social media posts follow the organization’s brand guidelines, editorial standards, tone of voice, and approval procedures.
  • Monitor comments, questions, and audience feedback where required, and support the preparation of appropriate responses.
  • Recommend improvements based on audience engagement, platform performance, and emerging trends.
  • Assist in preparing social media performance reports, including:
    • Reach.
    • Impressions.
    • Engagement.
    • Click-through rates.
    • Follower growth.
    • Leads or inquiries.
    • Best-performing content.
  • Ensure that all social media content is accurate, respectful, inclusive, ethical, and free from misleading or unverified claims.

  • Conduct research on sectors, industries, markets, clients, competitors, partners, and emerging trends.
  • Verify facts, statistics, quotations, organizational information, and project details using credible sources.
  • Interview staff, clients, partners, beneficiaries, and stakeholders to develop accurate and compelling content.
  • Produce:
    • Case studies.

Editing, Proofreading, and Quality Assurance

  • Edit and proofread documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, structure, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Ensure that written and digital content is professional, persuasive, concise, and appropriate for its intended audience.
  • Review all content for factual accuracy and consistency with approved organizational information.
  • Ensure consistency in terminology, tone of voice, brand messaging, and editorial style.
  • Fact-check data, quotations, statistics, project information, and claims.
  • Ensure compliance with donor, client, organizational, legal, copyright, and communications requirements.
  • Avoid plagiarism and ensure that external sources are properly acknowledged.
  • Review content for inclusiveness, gender sensitivity, cultural appropriateness, safeguarding, and responsible representation.
  • Maintain proper version control and organized records of draft, reviewed, approved, and final content.
  • Coordinate with designers and multimedia producers to ensure consistency between written and visual materials.

F. Internal Coordination and Communication Support

  • Work closely with the Media Manager, Business Development Manager, technical teams, senior management, and other departments.
  • Participate in editorial, proposal development, campaign planning, and communication meetings.
  • Collect information and supporting materials from relevant departments.
  • Provide writing and editing support to internal teams.
  • Present draft content for review and incorporate feedback within agreed timelines.
  • Support the Media Manager in preparing communication plans, editorial calendars, social media plans, and performance reports.
  • Assist in coordinating content approvals and publication schedules.
  • Undertake any other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor.

All deliverables shall be completed according to approved workplans, content calendars, proposal deadlines, and priorities established by the Media Manager.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Mass Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Additional professional training in digital marketing, social media management, content marketing, proposal writing, SEO, public relations, or copywriting is an advantage.

Professional Experience

  • At least 2–3 years of progressive professional experience in content writing, copywriting, communications, marketing, journalism, proposal development, business development, or a related field.
  • Proven experience producing business, corporate, development, nonprofit, consulting, technology, or professional services content.
  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • Business development content.
    • Website content development.
    • Social media copywriting.
    • Digital campaigns.

  • Proven experience developing content for multiple social media platforms.
