Job Description:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of patients admitted to the MHPSS inpatient unit to evaluate their mental health status, formulate accurate psychiatric diagnoses, and identify co-occurring medical and psychosocial factors contributing to their condition.
- Conducting consultations in OPD.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patients' psychiatric diagnoses, presenting symptoms, and treatment goals. Coordinate with interdisciplinary team members, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and occupational therapists, to implement evidence-based treatment modalities, including medication management, psychotherapy, and psychosocial interventions.
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications as indicated, adjusting dosages and medication regimens based on the patient's clinical response, side effects, and adherence. Provide education to patients and their families regarding medication benefits, potential risks, and strategies for medication adherence and management.
- Provide timely and effective crisis intervention services to patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises, including suicidal ideation, self-harm behaviors, aggressive behaviors, and psychotic episodes. Collaborate with nursing staff, psychiatric crisis teams, and emergency services to ensure patient safety and stabilization.
- Collaborate closely with other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and integrated care delivery for patients within the MHPSS inpatient unit. Participate in treatment planning meetings, case conferences, and interdisciplinary rounds to discuss patient progress, address clinical concerns, and optimize treatment outcomes.
- Provide psychoeducation to patients and their families regarding psychiatric diagnoses, treatment options, medication management, coping skills, and relapse prevention strategies. Offer support, guidance, and resources to empower patients and families in their recovery journey and promote self-management skills.
- Should cooperate with Physicians to treat children and adults with mental health issues resulting from trauma or chemical imbalances.
- Prepare written tests to determine whether the patient is mentally competent or to identify mental health conditions.
- Having professionalism, medical ethics, and caring during communication with colleagues and patients.
- Providing training to residents, medical officers, and junior doctors.
- Consulting head of the department as supervisor before and during facing complicated cases of over credentialing cases.
- Performing assignments defined by the supervisor related to department activities, patient cases, participating in meetings, lectures, case presentations, supervising junior doctors, and other related tasks.
- Take care of equipment assigned to the Hospital including Computers, desks, chairs, and statoscopes, and ensure their proper usage.
- Respect all rules and regulations of the Hewad Organization.
- Work on departmental capacity building program as well as bring self-development.
- Regularly monitor patients' progress and provide documentation.
- Attend to emergency cases when necessary.
- Perform routine and emergency mental health-related problems.
- Ensure complete daily documentation of patient case notes/files.
- Ensure complete discharge, referral, and feedback procedures for patients.
- Counsel patients and relatives on health management.
- Maintain regular contact and coordination with heads of other departments to ensure harmonization of patients management.
- Review and develop appropriate policies and procedures for patients' health care to formulate best practice guidelines based on EPHS.
- Ensure timely availability of required support services in the process of treating patients, particularly when referred to other specialists.
- Prepare timely and accurate medical reports, audits and mortality reviews.
- Ensure medical records activities are effectively implemented.
- Any other duties assigned by Supervisors or HEWAD leadership.
Job Requirements:
- Graduated from a post-medical specialty in the related field.
- At least 3 years of work experience in the related field.
- Must be fluent in English and also in local languages.
