Established in 1992, its actions are based on the values of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equal rights and opportunities for all people and respect for diversity and coexistence, paying particular attention to the most vulnerable and the unprotected. INTERSOS is an independent association which, through its own humanitarian operators, intervenes to effectively answer the needs of people in serious crises situations, mainly in the world's poorest regions, who are suffering, deprived of rights, dignity and essentials goods. It maintains a flexible operating structure.
Job Description:
Participates in defining, planning, implementing, and monitoring nutrition activities and programs in accordance with INTERSOS protocols and strategies. Coordinates the human and material resources necessary to ensure quality, evidence-based nutrition programming that responds to the needs of affected populations.
Supports the analysis of nutrition data and trends in collaboration with the Medical Coordinator and field teams, ensuring integration with health and protection sectors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Program Manager, Medical Coordinator, and the rest of the team, define, implement, and monitor nutrition activities based on INTERSOS project plans and mission strategies. Contribute to exploratory assessments, policy development, annual plans, donor reports, and new project proposals.
- Supervise and support Medical Activity Managers to ensure harmonized implementation of INTERSOS’ nutrition strategy and protocols across projects, maintaining high quality of service delivery.
- Oversee the integration of nutrition services (including CMAM, IYCF, and micronutrient supplementation) in all supported health facilities and mobile teams, ensuring alignment with national guidelines and international best practices.
- Ensure nutrition surveillance systems are in place and effectively used for program design and decision-making, while contributing to data analysis and reporting.
- Coordinate with Project and Programme Managers to establish and maintain collaborative relations with donors, local authorities (including BPHS/EPHS implementers), the DoPH, and relevant nutrition and health actors.
- Actively participate in the Nutrition Cluster and relevant working groups at field level, contributing to the development of tools, strategies, guidance notes, and response plans.
- Facilitate the preparation and finalization of MoUs with key stakeholders to support the implementation of nutrition activities and negotiate access to vulnerable populations.
- Provide technical oversight and coaching to the nutrition teams, ensuring understanding and adherence to protocols, and offering on-the-job mentorship, capacity building, and refresher training.
- Monitor and supervise the performance of Medical Activity Managers and their teams, contribute to performance evaluations, and support HR in recruitment, orientation, and development processes.
- Ensure availability and rational use of nutrition supplies (RUTF, micronutrients, anthropometric tools) in coordination with the Pharmacy and Logistics Units. Monitor consumption patterns and forecast needs to prevent stockouts.
- Collaborate with logistics, MEAL, and medical supply teams to ensure proper tracking of nutrition commodities and timely reporting of gaps and needs.
- In coordination with Health and Protection teams, develop and reinforce internal and external referral systems (e.g., for SAM cases with complications, PLWs with severe anemia, GBV survivors, or children with developmental concerns).
- Ensure that nutrition activities are gender-sensitive, inclusive, and aligned with protection and accountability standards.
- Serve as focal person for staff health and wellness in relation to nutrition (e.g., anemia prevention, awareness sessions).
- In the absence of the Medical Coordinator and Deputy Medical Coordinator, contribute to the interim oversight of nutrition activities during transitions or reduced programming.
