About Youth Health and Development Organization (YHDO):
YHDO is a non-governmental and non-for-profit organization established in 2009, registered with ministry of economy in Afghanistan. YHDO works with interdisciplinary professionals to develop and implement innovative, culturally appropriate, evidence based interventions

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Duties:
   • Perform a wide range of general surgical procedures, including trauma surgeries, abdominal surgeries, and emergency interventions, often under resource-limited conditions.
   • Diagnose and manage surgical conditions, including conflict-related injuries and non-conflict trauma (e.g., vehicle accidents).
   • Provide pre- and post-operative care, including wound management and infection control.
   • Collaborate with hospital staff to triage patients and prioritize emergency cases in high-volume situations.
2. Mentorship and Training:
   • Conduct on-the-job training in basic surgical techniques, sterile procedures, and trauma care protocols.
   • Support the development of standardized operating procedures for the surgical ward.
3. Resource Management:
   • Work with limited medical supplies and equipment, improvising when necessary (e.g., using basic tools or manual techniques when advanced equipment is unavailable).
   • Coordinate with hospital administration to ensure the availability of essential surgical supplies, such as sutures, IV fluids, and antibiotics.
   • Report equipment shortages or maintenance needs to the hospital’s chief health officer.
4. Emergency Response:
   • Respond to mass casualty incidents resulting from conflict, roadside bombs, or other emergencies in the Spin Boldak region.
   • Participate in hospital emergency preparedness planning and drills.
5. Administrative and Collaborative Duties:
   • Maintain accurate patient records and surgical logs.
   • Participate in community outreach programs to promote health awareness, when needed

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Medical degree (MD) with specialization in General surgery.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in general surgery, with at least 2 years in trauma or emergency surgery.
  • Prior experience working in low-resource or conflict-affected settings is highly desirable.
