About Organization of Human Welfare (OHW):

The Organization of Human Welfare (OHW) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) and is non-political, not-for-profit, and impartial organization with no bias towards a particular religion, ethnicity, or political belief. It has its own independent legal status and entity. OHW is registered with the Ministry of Economy in Kabul, Afghanistan (Registration No: 1014) and is a member of South West Afghanistan and Baluchistan Agency for Coordination (SWABAC), the coordinating body for NGOs in southern Afghanistan. The Managing Director of OHW also formally represents SWABAC in coordination meetings at the national level.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of agriculture/livelihoods project components, specifically vegetable kit and poultry farming distributions, in alignment with approved workplans, technical standards and core humanitarian principles.
  • Develop/implement work plans, distribution plans, and procurement schedules in line with project timelines.
  • Ensure quality control and appropriateness of distributed inputs (seed varieties, poultry kits, feed, etc.).
  • Coordinate/Develop training materials and facilitate ToT for field staff and training sessions on kitchen gardening, poultry management, and climate-resilient practices.
  • Coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture, provincial and district level and other relevant stakeholders in the design and implementation of all livelihood’s aspects of the project.
  • Oversee transparent beneficiary identification and targeting based on criteria, ensuring inclusion of women, and vulnerable groups.
  • Conduct community meetings and awareness campaigns on project objectives and activities.
  • Ensure community participation, ownership throughout the project lifecycle and integrate community feedback mechanisms.
  • Track input distribution, beneficiary feedback, and project impact.
  • Conduct regular field visits and post-distribution monitoring.
  • Coordinate with logistics/procurement teams to ensure timely acquisition and distribution of seeds and poultry kits.
  • Maintain records of stock, distributions, and beneficiaries.
  • Ensure technical supervision and provide on-the-job coaching and manage and mentor field officers, technical trainers and support staff.
  • Conduct regular team briefings, performance reviews, and capacity building.
  • Prepare detailed progress reports for internal and donor submission.
  • Document best practices, case studies, and lessons learned.
  • Ensure compliance with donor and organizational policies.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Science, Rural Development, or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in managing agricultural or livelihoods projects.

Proven experience in implementing input distribution, kitchen gardening, and small-scale poultry programs.

Strong understanding of participatory approaches, gender-sensitive programming, and community-based development.

Experience working with local government.

Strong leadership, coordination, and team management skills.

Excellent communication and report writing abilities.

Fluency in spoken Pashto, Dari and English is required.
