Job Description:
General Background of Project / Assignment:
The Site Engineer is responsible for overseeing the implementation and monitoring of water supply network construction and rehabilitation projects in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province. This includes providing technical guidance to field teams, ensuring compliance with approved designs, BoQs, and timelines, and maintaining effective coordination with the Project Manager for timely progress reporting. Additionally, the Site Engineer ensures transparency by liaising with donors, government authorities, and monitoring teams while enforcing quality standards through inspections and compliance checks, guaranteeing the successful delivery of high-quality water infrastructure solutions.
Beyond project execution, the Site Engineer meticulously reviews construction sites to verify adherence to engineering and design specifications, prioritizing the use of high-quality materials that meet construction standards. They analyze daily progress, construction materials quality, and technical documents to develop comprehensive plans, estimate material quantities, and optimize project efficiency. Their role also involves managing construction schedules, monitoring progress, and promptly addressing any delays or issues, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency in water supply projects.
Job Requirements:
- Proven analytical and technical expertise in the design and planning of infrastructure projects.
- Ability to manage project timelines effectively and oversee the seamless implementation of activities.
- Strong proficiency in reading, interpreting, and applying engineering drawings.
- Skilled in planning, organizing, and managing site personnel and machinery to optimize project execution.
- Capable of making informed on-site decisions to address and resolve construction-related issues.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours as required by project demands.
- Willingness to operate in rural and remote locations, ensuring project goals are met efficiently.
Qualifications and Expertise:
- Over 5 years of professional experience in water and sanitation projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Water Supply & Irrigation Engineering.
- Skilled in working with communities and monitoring organization.
- Excellent English proficiency in speaking and writing; strong verbal and written communication skills for managing email correspondence.
- Proficient in Auto Cad, MS Word and MS Excel.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong understanding of local communities and the regional context of Kandahar province.
- Experienced in collaborating with project stakeholders and partners.
- Effective interpersonal, management, and conflict resolution skills.
- Basic understanding of solar electrical system installation.
