Job Description:

Job summary:

Develop, update, and implement Environmental, Social, Health, and Safety (ESHS) plans while providing training to all project staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Risk Management:
    • Identify risks and implement corrective actions to prevent hazards.
  2. Inspections & Compliance:
    • Inspect healthcare and construction sites to ensure compliance with ESHS standards and laws.
  3. Waste Management:
    • Oversee proper disposal of hazardous and medical waste following ACHRO’s policies and regulations.
  4. Training & Awareness:
    • Train staff, contractors, and community members on ESHS policies and best practices.
  5. Emergency Preparedness:
    • Organize safety drills and emergency response exercises.
  6. Safety Culture:
    • Promote a workplace culture focused on safety, transparency, and incident reporting.
  7. Incident Investigation:
    • Investigate ESHS incidents, document findings, and recommend improvements.
  8. Reporting:
    • Track ESHS performance and prepare reports for internal and donor use.
  9. Government & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Work with local authorities to ensure compliance with regulations.
    • Represent ACHRO in ESHS-related meetings.
    • Form and manage an ESHS committee for better oversight.
  10. Ethics & Safeguarding:
    • Follow ACHRO’s code of conduct and ensure team members do the same.
    • Protect the safety of staff and vulnerable groups.
    • Educate partners on ACHRO’s ethical standards and reporting procedures.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor degree in Enviromental Science, Social Sciense or any related field, Master degree is a resource added 

At least five years of proven experience 

Familiar with Microsoft Office package and report writing.  

Competency 

  1. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
  2. Humanitarian experience in medical and nutrition programs in Afghanistan (EPHS, BPHS,)
  3. Conversant with Health Information Management Systems
  4. The candidate must have strong command in English, Dari and Pashto Languages.
  5. Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
