Job Description:

The Site Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision, monitoring, and technical management of infrastructure and construction works at project sites in Khost and Zabul. Working closely with the Project Manager and field teams, the Site Engineer will ensure that all construction and rehabilitation activities are carried out in compliance with approved designs, technical standards, safety requirements, and environmental safeguards. The role requires practical field expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, community members, and project stakeholders to ensure high-quality and timely delivery of outputs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and monitor all on-site construction, rehabilitation, and infrastructure activities to ensure they are implemented according to approved designs, technical specifications, and quality standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed engineering designs, drawings, cost estimates, and material specifications for project activities.
  • Oversee the daily progress of civil works at project sites, ensuring compliance with work plans, safety protocols, and environmental standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, identify challenges, and provide timely technical solutions to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Coordinate closely with contractors, suppliers, and project staff to ensure timely delivery and installation of materials and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of site activities, including daily logs, material usage, and labor reports.
  • Support the Project Manager in preparing progress reports, measurement sheets, and completion certificates.
  • Ensure all construction works are implemented in accordance with WEARO’s and donor’s quality assurance and environmental compliance policies.
  • Collaborate with local communities, government representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation and acceptance.
  • Report any technical issues, safety concerns, or design deviations to the Project Manager promptly and recommend corrective actions.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or any other related discipline 
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience working with cold chain initiatives implementation or the sector is preferred.
  • Fluency in Pashto and Dari (spoken and written) and proficiency in English (oral and written).
