Job Description:
Job Summary:
The HVCA trainer will be responsible for leading the HVCA related tasks within the PREVALE Project in Faryab Province. This role involves designing, implementing, and evaluating training programs to enhance community resilience to natural disasters and climate-related risks. The trainer will work closely with project stakeholders, local authorities, and community members to ensure effective integration of DRR strategies into project activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive training modules and materials on DRR, HVCA tailored to the Faryab Province context and project objectives.
- Facilitate training sessions for community members, local authorities, CBDRMCs, WMCs and project staff on topics such as hazard identification, risk assessment, early warning systems and emergency response planning and so on.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project staff and community partners on DRR and HVCA methodologies and best practices.
- Facilitate focus group discussions (FGD) interviews and learning by doing within the targeted communities to develop and validate community hazard maps, risks list, ranking of risks, vulnerability analysis, historical background and seasonal calendar for the targeted communities with close coordination of CBDRMCs and WMCs.
- Facilitate for identifying existing capacities and coping mechanisms through close coordination of community members, CBDRMCs and WMCs within the communities.
- Provide required support to the WMCs and CBDRMCs for developing and preparing CBDRMPs and watershed management plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor in line with project needs and organizational policies.
Job Requirements:
Education & Training:
Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Management, Environmental Science, Geography, or any other field.
Experience :
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Disaster Risk Reduction.
- Proven experience in developing and delivering training programs, workshops, or capacity-building initiatives.
Proven experience in (identifying and analyzing the disaster historical background, existence infrastructures, seasonal calendar, ranking and scoring of risks, and analysis of the existence capabilities and vulnerabilities of the targeted communities)
Technical Skills :
- Strong understanding of climate change adaptation strategies, community resilience, and sustainable development principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and proficiency in Dari and Pashto languages.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and with diverse stakeholders.
- Good reporting skills.
