Job Description:

Under UNESCO’s technical guidance, ESA Organization will digitize archaeological artifacts in Kabul and selected provincial museums through 3D scanning. The 3D Scanning Specialists will be responsible for all technical aspects of scanning and file preparation.

Job Requirements:

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate 3D scanning equipment and software to digitize artifacts.
  • Conduct scanning sessions in Kabul and provincial museums.
  • Process raw scan data, clean files, and prepare final digital models.
  • Create and organize metadata for each scanned artifact.
  • Ensure safe handling and preservation protocols for cultural objects.
  • Assist with file cataloging and contribute to the digital archive.
  • Participate in UNESCO-led training sessions.
  • Submit daily progress updates and ensure quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Architecture, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with 3D scanning, photogrammetry, or digital documentation (preferred but not mandatory—training will be provided).
  • Familiarity with 3D editing software (Meshroom, Metashape, Blender, or similar) an advantage.
  • Ability to work in field conditions and travel to provinces.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Precision, attention to detail, and data accuracy.
  • Ability to work respectfully with museum staff and fragile artifacts.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English, Pashto and/or Dari.
