About Afghanistan Rehabilitation and Education Program (AREP):
Afghanistan Rehabilitation and Educational Program (AREP) was established in 1994 as an independent non-governmental, non-profit organization, AREP's learning experience as a development organization comes from its working association with communities in different areas of Afghanistan. More importantly, the development and growth of the organization have been through an evolutionary process, AREP registered with the Ministry of Economy and member of Education international, ACBER, ANCB and DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S (The International Award for Young People).

Job Description:
Background
AREP is implementing projects focused on improving access to sustainable and reliable solar energy solutions for communities and project-supported facilities. To support effective coordination and quality implementation of solar energy interventions, the organization is seeking a qualified and motivated Solar Energy Coordination Officer.
Purpose of the Position
The Solar Energy Coordination Officer will be responsible for coordinating, supervising, and providing technical oversight for all solar energy–related activities under the project, ensuring compliance with technical standards, project requirements, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee planning and implementation of solar energy activities.
- Provide technical support on design, installation, operation, and maintenance of solar PV systems.
- Review and validate technical designs, specifications, and bills of quantities (BoQs).
- Supervise contractors and service providers to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor progress and address technical challenges.
- Coordinate closely with project management, procurement, finance, and MEAL teams.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders, including local authorities and suppliers.
- Prepare technical and progress reports, including installation and commissioning reports.
- Support basic training and orientation for staff and end-users on system operation and maintenance.
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, safeguarding, and PSEA standards.
- Monitoring and Evaluation of Panels
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in solar energy or renewable energy projects.
- Proven experience in the coordination or supervision of solar energy installations.
- Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, batteries, inverters, and safety standards.
- Experience working with contractors and suppliers.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong coordination and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
