Job Description:

• The Value Chain Trainer will deliver approved training sessions on First Foods and MIYCN-related value chains, nutrition-sensitive food production, costing, packaging, labeling, hygiene practices, and women-led small businesses. The trainer will make sure the training is practical, easy to understand, and in line with project objectives.

• The trainer will organize and lead interactive and hands-on training sessions such as cooking practice, food preparation, demonstrations, simulations, and group activities. All training will be conducted in Dari and/or Pashto and adjusted to local culture and community needs.

• The trainer will conduct door-to-door household visits to collect baseline information on knowledge and practices, and follow up on training results. During these visits, the trainer will communicate politely and respectfully with households, caregivers, and community members.

• The trainer will ensure that consent is taken from households and that confidentiality, safeguarding, and ethical behavior are respected during all household visits and community activities.

• The trainer will collect correct and complete data using KOBO Toolbox or other approved digital data collection tools. She will properly use mobile phones or tablets, submit data daily, and ensure the information collected is accurate and of good quality.

• The trainer will provide regular coaching and mentoring to trainees during the training and incubation period, including support in food production activities, business plan preparation, pitch practice, and selection for incubation support.

• The trainer will help women participants use the skills they learn at home and in the community, improve the quality and costing of their products, and build their confidence, leadership, and decision-making skills.

• The trainer will conduct both individual and group coaching sessions as part of the training and follow-up process.

• The trainer will assess participants regularly through observation during practical sessions, group work, presentations, and final product or business pitch evaluations.

• The trainer will keep proper records such as attendance sheets, assessment forms, survey data, and training documents, and will submit weekly, monthly, and activity reports to supervisor.

• The trainer will work closely with other trainers, supervisors, M&E staff, and field teams to ensure training, surveys, and follow-up activities are implemented smoothly.

• The trainer will ensure a safe, respectful, and women-friendly learning environment and will follow CHA, UNICEF, and donor rules on safeguarding, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), and gender sensitivity.

• The trainer will support basic health and safety measures during training and field activities, including awareness and correct use of first aid kits at training centers.

• The trainer will carry out any other project-related tasks assigned by the Project Officer or Zone Office to support successful project implementation.

Job Requirements:

Experience:

The candidate must have at least 2 years of relevant work experience in community-based training or facilitation, value chain or livelihood programs, or nutrition or food-related projects. Experience working with women and with rural or urban communities in Afghanistan is required.

Skills and Competencies:

The candidate should have good training, coaching, and mentoring skills and be able to conduct door-to-door household surveys in a respectful and professional way.

She should have practical knowledge of small-scale food processing and home-based businesses and be familiar with local Afghan foods, markets, and food systems.

Good communication skills in Dari and/or Pashto are required, along with basic skills in using smartphones, tablets, and KOBO forms.

Cultural sensitivity, patience, flexibility, and teamwork are essential.

Mandatory Requirements This position is open to female candidates only.

The candidate must be willing to travel within the assigned district for surveys and follow-up activities.

She must show strong commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, and ethical data collection and be flexible in working hours according to training schedules and community needs.
