Dedicated Women Social Services Organization (DWSSO) is a pioneering, women-led national non-governmental organization (NGO) headquartered in Kabul Province, Afghanistan, with a mission to empower women, strengthen community resilience, and alleviate poverty. Established in 2016 and registered with the Ministry of Economy (Registration No. 3969), DWSSO operates as a trusted partner in Afghanistan’s development landscape, bringing life-changing resources and opportunities to some of the country’s most vulnerable populations, particularly women, children, and youth. Purpose of the Position:

The Greenhouse Maintenance Expert will provide comprehensive technical leadership and hands-on support for greenhouse-based agricultural activities. The role focuses on improving productivity, quality, and sustainability of crops grown under protected cultivation. The specialist will oversee daily greenhouse operations, ensure optimal growing conditions, apply modern greenhouse technologies, and support capacity building of staff and beneficiaries. The position requires strong technical expertise, practical field experience, and the ability to translate agricultural knowledge into effective, results-oriented practices aligned with project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, establish, and manage greenhouse production systems including crop selection, planting schedules, and harvesting plans.
• Supervise installation, operation, and maintenance of greenhouse structures and equipment.
• Monitor and control greenhouse climate parameters such as temperature, humidity, ventilation, and light.
• Design and supervise irrigation and fertigation programs based on crop needs.
• Monitor soil, substrate, nutrient levels, and water quality and recommend improvements.
• Implement integrated pest and disease management (IPM) practices.
• Conduct regular crop inspections and provide technical guidance.
• Ensure proper use and storage of agricultural inputs and equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of greenhouse activities and production data.
• Train and mentor greenhouse workers, staff, and beneficiaries.
• Introduce climate-smart agriculture and improved greenhouse technologies.
• Coordinate with project teams and stakeholders.
• Prepare technical reports and progress updates

Qualifications and Experience:

• Master or Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Agriculture, Greenhouse Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in greenhouse production or management.
• Hands-on experience with irrigation, fertigation, and climate control systems.
• Strong technical knowledge of greenhouse systems and crop production.
• Ability to work independently and in field conditions.
