About TLO:

The Liaison Office (TLO) founded in 2003 as an Afghan non-governmental organization (NGO) that emerged from a Swisspeace pilot project (supported by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung) with the aim of improving local governance, stability, and security through systematic and institutionalized engagement with customary structures, local communities, civil society groups, and government institutions. TLO is based in Kabul, with regional offices in Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Herat, Ghazni, Farah, Samangan, Balkh, Nangarhar, Maidan wardak and Baghlan and additional field offices across Afghanistan. TLO works to achieve its objectives through key program activities: research and analysis, dialogue facilitation for peacebuilding, access to justice and governance, humanitarian assistance, third party monitoring and evaluation, and environment & natural resources management.

Job Description:

  • Facilitate quality implementation of livestock-related activities under the supervision of the Livestock officer.
  • Conduct a market assessment to identify potential sources of animal husbandry and veterinarian services in the target location.
  • Provide livestock input to Project beneficiaries considering the project target and work plan.
  • Organize proper livestock input distribution in coordination with engaged stakeholders.
  • Apply the CIG/ FFS and or SHG approach which is best suit during the project implementation.
  • Assist training sessions regarding livestock management and other livestock-related interventions.
  • Assist animal husbandry & veterinarian training (Stable management, dairy processing, pasture management, animal disease management, Silage and concentrate food preparation, and vaccination) for livestock holders.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor livestock intervention under the PREVALE project at targeted communities.
  • Works with other Program staff to coordinate work activities, meet deadlines, and provide support where needed.
  • Take part in all field activities under the PREVALE project as recommended.
  • Performs other related duties by instructions from the line manager.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in animal health/production, Animal Science, and Veterinary Science

Experience and Skills Required:

 At least 2 to 3 years of demonstrated experience in the following:

·      Demonstrated experience in dealing with farmers Communities in the fields of livestock management, Goat and Sheep rearing and VFUs support.

·      Proven experience in the formation of Farmers Common Interest Group, Self Help Groups and Farmers Field School.

·      Experience in working with local government or NGOs on Livestock/livelihood-related activities in remote areas of Afghanistan.
