About HADAAF:

HADAAF is a National NGO, established in April 2006, registered with MoE under registration No. 514. HADAAF is working with Health, WASH, Nutrition, livelihood and Child protection but mainly involved, working in health/nutrition sector since 2007. HADAAF have experience in implementation of BPHS and other vertical health support projects of long and short duration. HADAAF implemented BPHS in Nuristan and Zabul provinces in partnership with IMC (2007-2011) and Cordaid (2013-2019) respectively. HADAAF also implemented long term health support projects (Support to CBHC, PPP, Nutrition, integrated WASH and Nutrition, malaria/TB control and capacity buildings of health staff) in Urozgan, Nuristan, and Kunar provinces. Currently HADAAF is implementing health projects (Mobile Health Teams, Mobile Health and Nutrition teams, Fixed PHC, CBNP, C-WIFS & MNP and Covid-19 response support) projects in Nangarhar, Balkh, Khost, Paktia, Ghazni and Helmand provinces.

HADAAF has adapted a strategic approach of partnership and collaboration throughout its program implementation. Thus far, HADAAF has implementing projects/programs in partnership with MoPH, IMC, UNICEF, WHO, FHI 360, Health Net TPO, UNDP, Save the Children International, Swedish Committee for Afghanistan, Johanniter International Assistance and Cordaid in Nuristan, Urozgan, Ghor, Farah, Kunar, Laghman Kabul and Khost provinces. This collaborative approach has enabled HADAAF to get access to hard-to-reach areas and implement quality service delivery. 

Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Laboratory Technician will perform essential diagnostic tests in support of clinical services during mobile health camps. The technician is responsible for sample collection, rapid testing (e.g., malaria, pregnancy, hemoglobin), and maintaining proper hygiene and quality standards. There will be one team of Health Camp for Kandahar and Zabul and one Health Camp team for Helmand.

The Laboratory Technician will be part of the health camp team, one Laboratory Technician will conduct the diagnosis test in the 8 targeted districts of Kandahar and 2 districts of Zabul and one Laboratory Technician will be responsible for conducting the diagnosis test in 5 districts of Helmand. On monthly basis, 10 Health Camps will be conducting in Kandahar and Zabul and 5 Health Camps will be conducting in Helmand.

Targeted Districts for Health Camps:  

  1. Kandahar and Zabul: Ghorak, Maruf, Khakriez, Maiwand, Mianeshin, Shawalikot, Spinboldak and Dand districts of Kandahar and Qalat and Mizana district of Zabul.
  2. Helmand: Nawzad, Garamseer, Kajaki, Washeer and Baghran districts of Helmand.

Major Area of Responsibilities:

  • Provide standard laboratory examinations with high-quality and accurate results
  • Registration and Keeping record of the examination result.
  • Providing Technical reports to Clinic In charge
  • Provide information and refer the clients to Doctor, Midwife or Family Planning for any patient who comes to health center.
  • Follow up infection prevention procedures according to standard guidelines.
  • Proper and safe usage of Lab equipment’s.
  • Keeping and protecting Lab equipment against sunlight, electric shock, and other harms.
  • Quick response in an emergency regarding your field.
  • Check the quality of lab regents including expiry date

Additional Job Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities set out above are not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to carry out additional duties from time to time which are reasonable in relation to their level of skills and experience.

Job Requirements:

  • Skilled in, and committed to, community participation/interaction, field visits and presence in program areas.
  • Fluent in Pashto and Intermediate knowledge of English language
  • Able to move around the targeted districts of Kandahar, Zabul and Helmand
  • Kandahar and Zabul: Ghorak, Maruf, Khakriez, Maiwand, Mianeshin, Shawalikot, Spinboldak and Dand districts of Kandahar and Qalat and Mizana district of Zabul.
  • Helmand: Nawzad, Garamseer, Kajaki, Washeer and Baghran districts of Helmand.
  • The ability to provide accurate effective care even under pressure
  • Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduated from Recognized Institute of Laboratory Section (Diploma in Laboratory)
  • At least 2 years working experience in the relevant field
