Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is an Afghan non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization established in 1968. AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive health and Rights since its inception and has recently become an associate member of International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).
AFGA activities were suspended due to war and conflict in the country for ten years (1992-2002) and resumed its activities in 2002 with financial support from International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).
IPPF is an alliance of 151 family planning associations known as Member Associations which has projects in over 180 countries. IPPF continues to be the largest civil society provider of reproductive health information and services in the world.
Reproductive Health projact officer is overall responsible to ensure effective and quality Sexual and Reproductive health services are carried out in compliance with the RH/MOPH standards and through effective coordination with RHD/MOPH, agencies and line ministries at national level.
Involve in Identification and setting up of AFGA clinics (Family Welfare Centers) and strengthening of existing centers.
Ensure effective and quality implementation of programs and services of comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive health services (SRH) through the Family Welfare Centers.
Develop protocols, screening tools, coping strategies and safety plans in consultation with the Program manager, Advocacy/Public Perception.
Develop referral system, including follow-up for SRH care, rights and support for survivors of FBV and undertake periodic reviews.
Undertake periodic reviews and supervision visits to ensure adherence of quality standards in the delivery of sexual and reproductive health services as per IPPF’s Service Delivery Guidelines.
Develop training materials on FBV and SRH for service providers and counselors.
Provide program guidance and support to the clinic and project staff.
Undertake/facilitate capacity building exercises for clinical and non-clinical staff on Emergency Contraception, quality of care, infection prevention, sexual and reproductive health care, PAC and any other area suggested by the staff members
Prepare progress report on monthly basis and submit it to program manager.
Assist the project staff in organizing educational programs and service sessions in the outreach areas of the Project.
Ensure proper coordination of service delivery with ministry of public health (MOPH), related UN and other agencies at national level.
Perform quality of Care survey in AFGA FWCs and integrate the action plan for FWCs.
Report and communicate relevant issues with IPPF/SARO relevant program officer
Conduct regular supportive supervisory visit from AFGA FWCs, Mobile Clinics, YFS/YHL clinic, community outreach program and private hospitals located in Kabul, Herat, Mazar and Nangarhar provinces of Afghanistan on regular basis.
Conduct need based training for services providers (MDs, Midwives and counselors).
Prepared periodic report of AFGA program and submit to RHD / MoPH as required
Participate and attend workshops/training at National and international level representing AFGA
Participate in the coordination meetings and taskforces in MOPH, other agencies and line ministries at national level.
Any other program related tasks assigned by the line manager from time to time
Having recognized medical degree from a reputable institution.
Master of public health or equivalent experience in the field of health management is preferable.
At least 3 years of experience working in the field of public health sexual and reproductive health services.
At least 2 years of working experience in management position of health program.
Having training experience especially in sexual and reproductive health services.
Must travel to provinces.
Good skill of computer program i.e. word processing, spreadsheet and power-points.
Fluency at local language and having good written and verbal communication skill in English language.
