Job Summary

1.     Conduct training sessions on silk weaving techniques for beneficiaries, ensuring proper use of looms and weaving tools.

2.     Provide practical demonstrations on silk weaving processes, including warp preparation, loom setup, weaving patterns, fabric finishing, and quality improvement techniques.

3.     Develop and implement training plans, lesson plans, and schedules for trainees involved in silk weaving activities.

4.     Ensure trainees understand quality standards for silk fabric production, including texture, design accuracy, durability, and finishing requirements.

5.     Train beneficiaries on the proper use, handling, and maintenance of weaving looms, tools, and equipment.

6.     Demonstrate traditional and modern silk weaving techniques to improve productivity and product quality.

7.     Monitor trainees’ performance and provide technical guidance, coaching, and hands-on support during practical sessions.

8.     Promote safe working practices in weaving workshops, including proper workstation organization and equipment handling.

9.     Maintain records of training attendance, progress, skills assessments, and performance of trainees.

10.  Support trainees in developing market-oriented silk weaving products such as scarves, shawls, fabrics, garments, and decorative textile items.

11.  Ensure proper use, storage, and maintenance of training materials, weaving tools, and equipment.

12.  Coordinate with the project team to ensure timely implementation of training activities and achievement of project targets.

13.  Provide follow-up mentoring, technical support, and business development advice to trainees after the completion of training sessions.

14.  Assist trainees in understanding basic product costing, pricing, marketing, and entrepreneurship concepts related to silk weaving.

15.  Submit daily, weekly, monthly, and final training reports to the project supervisor or manager.

16.  Identify trainees requiring additional support and provide extra coaching where necessary.

17.  Support the organization of product exhibitions, demonstrations, and market linkage activities when required.

18.  Carry out any other duties related to silk weaving training as assigned by the supervisor or project manager.

Job Requirements

1.     Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Sericulture, Vocational Education, Handicrafts, or a related field, or a Diploma in a relevant discipline with substantial practical experience.

2.     At least 2 years of experience in silk weaving, textile production, handicrafts, or related livelihood activities.

3.     Practical knowledge of silk weaving techniques, loom operation, fabric production, and finishing methods.

4.     Experience in vocational skills training, coaching, mentoring, or capacity building is highly desirable.

5.     Ability to demonstrate technical weaving processes clearly and effectively to trainees.

6.     Knowledge of quality control standards for woven silk products.

7.     Good communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

8.     Ability to prepare training plans, maintain records, and submit training reports.

9.     Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.

10.  Ability to work respectfully and effectively with community members, women, youth, and vulnerable beneficiaries.

11.  Knowledge of local markets and value chains for silk and handicraft products is an advantage.

12.  Fluency in Dari; knowledge of Pashto or local languages is considered an asset.

13.  Willingness and ability to travel to project locations and villages within Zenda Jan District, Herat Province, when required.
