Job Description:

  • Design and deliver training programs on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), climate resilience, and Early Warning Systems (EWS) for community members, staff, and institutional partners.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify capacity gaps in DRR and EWS among stakeholders.
  • Support the development and implementation of community-based early warning mechanisms tailored to local risks.
  • Integrate gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches into all capacity building initiatives.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, NGOs, and community leaders to align capacity building with local DRR strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of DRR and EWS-related guidelines, manuals, and communication materials.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and capacity-building interventions.
  • Assist in mainstreaming DRR and EWS into project planning, emergency preparedness, and sectoral programs.
  • Support emergency response planning and facilitate knowledge sharing and lesson learning.
  • Ensure coordination with hydrometeorological services, civil engineering units, and other technical departments for effective EWS development.

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in hydrometeorology, disaster risk reduction, gender studies, water resource management, or other relevant social sciences (Master’s or PhD preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in DRR, EWS, capacity building, climate resilience, emergency response planning, or related fields.
  • Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English is required.
  • Prior experience working with national or international NGOs is preferred.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and report writing skills.
