Job Summary
About the Programme
Horizon Bridge Consulting (HBC), in partnership with is implementing an international donor-funded digital skills training programme for 500 Afghan youth (ages 15–24) in Kabul and Herat. The programme trains young people in market-relevant digital skills across six specialisation pathways and links graduates to employment through internships, freelancing, and entrepreneurship support. Training runs from July to October 2026, with employment facilitation through November 2026.
Position Overview
You will lead 5 cohorts of 25 students each through a 4-month intensive web development programme. Students range from basic computer users to those with some coding experience. Your job is to take them from HTML basics to building functional, portfolio-ready websites and web applications. You will teach using a mix of traditional coding (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React) and no-code tools (WordPress, Shopify, Wix) so graduates can serve clients at different technical levels. AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Replit AI, Codex) are integrated throughout.
Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver 4 live training sessions per week (2 hours each) at the training hub, broadcast simultaneously to online students
• Design and Teach HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript fundamentals, React basics, and responsive web design over a structured 16-week curriculum
• Teach no-code web building tools (WordPress, Shopify themes, Wix) for students pursuing quick-to-market skills
• Integrate AI-assisted coding tools into every session so students learn to use AI as a development accelerator
• Guide students through 6 progressive projects building toward a professional portfolio
• Prepare students for freeCodeCamp Responsive Web Design certification
• Conduct weekly assessments and provide individual feedback
• Support students in creating GitHub profiles and deploying live projects
• Participate in capstone project reviews and graduation panel
• Maintain attendance records and flag at-risk students to the MEAL Officer
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 4 years of professional web development experience (freelance or employed)
• Demonstrated proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and at least one framework (React, Vue, or Angular)
• Experience teaching, training, or mentoring in a structured setting (formal or informal)
• Fluency in Dari or Pashto (training is delivered in local languages)
• Working English proficiency (technical documentation and some certification materials are in English)
• Own laptop and reliable internet connection
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with WordPress development and/or Shopify
• Familiarity with AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Replit AI, ChatGPT for code)
• freeCodeCamp certification(s) or equivalent
• Experience working with female learners or in gender-sensitive training environments
• Previous experience with UN agency or NGO-funded training programmes
• Female candidates are given strong preference for this position
Technical Skills Required
