About Union Aid:

Union Aid (UA) was established by a group of Afghan philanthropists and social activists in July 1979 in Peshawar, Pakistan. Union Aid was serving Afghan Refugees and host communities living in/around refugee camps through various projects in three main sectors; health, education and skill development. UA has been providing basic health services through hospitals, Basic Health Units (BHUs), labor rooms, provision of prosthetic limbs and first aid trainings. UA facilitated Afghan Refugees in education sector through providing formal basic and higher education, skill development programs for men and women, literacy centers and scholarships.

Union Aid is actively providing regular support in humanitarian & development sectors such as, Healthcare, Nutrition, Education, Scholarships, Technical Vocational Education Trainings, Family Support Programs, Emergency Response and Support, Livelihoods, Food Security, Shelter, Construction/Rehabilitation of community level infrastructures, Environmental Protection, and WASH.

Program / Department Summary

 

General Position Summary

Implementing programs in the country, Union Aid needs to also extend the capacity for action in the areas of communication, coordination, and relationship, and liaison with the de facto authorities at Kabul and provincial/district levels. The Liaison and Reporting Assistant (LRA) will kick start this capacity development for the staff, providing training to staff in Communication, reporting, and coordination. S/he will in addition coordinate liaison with the central de facto authorities, under the Liaison and Reporting Officer’s leadership and with the support of top-level management.

 The LRA will build and maintain an acute awareness of the main actors and dynamics shaping the operating environment in Afghanistan. S/he must be able to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure that Union Aid can implement its humanitarian aid programs to reach vulnerable Afghans in our areas of operation and that it maintains constructive relations with the de facto authorities at central and local levels. S/he will offer support to the country program’s team on how to access and execute programs in a legitimate manner that affects program operations in Kabul and in field offices.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Coordination and relations management

  • Support the Program Coordinator in initiating narrative reports from various projects, including but not limited to: project completion reports, Sectorial administration(s) reports.
  • Assisting Program Coordinator in the formation, developing, coordination, and signature of MOUs (Memorandum of Understanding), in a timely manner.
  • Support the Program Coordinator in collecting the required information for the development of MOUs (Memorandum of Understanding) for the upcoming projects.
  • Ensure a proper and standard archiving is available in both; soft version and hard copies, under the department.
  • Keep all documentation and files updated, properly filed, and easily accessible for the internal users, scan (a digital record), and upload on the share drive.
  • In the absence of Program Coordinator, participate in SMT, Coordination meetings to represent department-related activities when deemed necessary and share SMT the result.
  • Actively contribution in initiation of the SMT (Senior Management Team) meeting minutes.

 

Communication; Influence & NETWORKING

  • Effectively and efficiently contribute to the communication strategic aspects, to ensure a compliant branding is on place in the organization.
  • Support the relevant program management/IT department in developing success stories of executed projects.
  • Creates and launches targeted marketing/branding campaigns to increase the visibility of humanitarian projects of Union Aid.
  • Provide training to the staff on effective communication approaches.
  • Assist the Program Coordinator with, developing a communication strategy, including the Provide information on the project’s status to the IT department for the purpose of publication.
 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor in Journalism, Law and Political Science,
  • Two years of experience in relevant/equivalent fields.
