About TLO:

The Liaison Office (TLO) founded in 2003 as an Afghan non-governmental organization (NGO) that emerged from a Swisspeace pilot project (supported by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung) with the aim of improving local governance, stability, and security through systematic and institutionalized engagement with customary structures, local communities, civil society groups, and government institutions. TLO is based in Kabul, with regional offices in Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Herat, Ghazni, Farah, Samangan, Balkh, Nangarhar, Maidan wardak and Baghlan and additional field offices across Afghanistan. TLO works to achieve its objectives through key program activities: research and analysis, dialogue facilitation for peacebuilding, access to justice and governance, humanitarian assistance, third party monitoring and evaluation, and environment & natural resources management.

Job Description:

  • Design and implement comprehensive training projects focused on food security and livelihoods for community members and local stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops that educate participants on sustainable agricultural practices and climate-smart farming techniques.
  • Train community members on effective value chain management to enhance production and market access for agricultural products.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify knowledge gaps and tailor training content accordingly.
  • Support the development of local capacity by training community facilitators to deliver ongoing food security and livelihoods education.
  • Promote best practices in nutrition-sensitive agriculture to improve household food security and dietary diversity.
  • Collaborate with local organizations and government agencies to ensure alignment of training projects with community needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions and adjust methodologies based on participant feedback and outcomes.
  • Develop and distribute educational materials and resources to support training initiatives and community learning.
  • Conduct follow-up visits to participants to provide ongoing support and mentorship in implementing learned practices.
  • Organize community events to showcase successful agricultural practices and share experiences among participants.
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions where participants can discuss challenges and solutions related to food security.
  • Maintain accurate records of training activities, participant attendance, and outcomes for reporting purposes.
  • Advocate for gender-sensitive approaches in food security and livelihoods training to ensure inclusivity.
  • Prepare regular reports on training progress and impact for management and stakeholders, highlighting key achievements and lessons learned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, or a related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in training community members on food security and livelihoods.
  • Knowledge of sustainable farming techniques and value chain management.
  • Experience in developing training materials and conducting workshops.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills.
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate training outcomes.
