Job Description:

The Western Union Cashier is responsible for processing inbound and outbound money transfers, verifying customer identities, maintaining accurate transaction records, and ensuring transparency and efficiency in daily financial operations. The successful Western Union Cashier will demonstrate integrity, attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and the ability to comply with regulatory and operational requirements.

The Western Union Cashier is also responsible for providing effective daily transaction services within the branch to ensure compliance with company and Western Union policies and regulations. He is also responsible for:

  1. Processing Western Union money transfer transactions accurately and efficiently in accordance with company and Western Union procedures.
  2. Verifying customer identity and ensuring full compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) regulations.
  3. Maintaining accurate transaction records and ensuring proper documentation for all transfers.
  4. Ensuring transparency, accountability, and security in all cash handling and financial transactions.
  5. Providing excellent customer service and responding professionally to customer inquiries and complaints.
  6. Managing daily cash balances, conducting cash reconciliations, and reporting discrepancies immediately.
  7. Safeguarding company funds, assets, and confidential customer information.
  8. Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly transaction reports and submitting them to branch management and the head office.
  9. Ensuring compliance with company policies, Western Union operational standards, and internal audit requirements.
  10. Coordinating with supervisors, compliance officers, and IT support when required to resolve operational issues.
  11. Identifying suspicious or fraudulent transactions and reporting them according to company and regulatory procedures.
  12. Participating in training programs, workshops, and meetings to enhance professional skills and service quality.
  13. Supporting branch operational activities when required to ensure smooth business operations.
  14. Performing any other duties as assigned in accordance with company policies, Western Union guidelines, and organizational objectives.

Job Requirements:

  1. Educational Background:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, or a related field.
  2. Experience:
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience working in a financial institution 
  3. Skills and Competencies:
    • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
    • Proficiency in Dari (both written and spoken).
    • Proficiency in Pashto (both written and spoken).
    • Strong knowledge of computers and financial service systems.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  4. Residency:
    • Must be a local resident of the province where the candidate is applying.
  5. Other Attributes:
    • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
