Job Description:
Job Summary:
The Leather Bag Making Trainer will deliver quality practical and theoretical training to beneficiaries, enabling them to produce durable, marketable leather products and improve their income opportunities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence with APBHO policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
- Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
- Ensure proper filing of documents
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct structured theoretical and practical training on leather bag making.
- Demonstrate cutting, stitching, designing, and finishing techniques and ensure safe and proper use of tools and equipment.
- Strong familiarity with locally produced bag designs and market trends in Bamyan Province.
- The Vocational Training trainer should prepare the training plan and conduct the training based on the approved plan.
- Provide hands-on training in bag design, pattern making, stitching, and guide trainees in material selection and quality control.
- Conduct regular tests (practical and theory), evaluate quality of bag making and provide feedback and identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain discipline, ensure a positive learning environment, promote proper use and care of equipment and materials, and manage time effectively during training sessions.
- Manage leather, thread, accessories, and tools efficiently to minimize wastage of materials.
- Keep daily attendance and leave record of the trainees.
- Maintain the proper inventory of the things handed over to the trainer/center.
- Teach basic marketing and pricing of bags and guide trainees on starting small businesses or home-based work.
- Ensure safe and respectful training environment for all to encourage participation of women and vulnerable groups.
- Conduct market assessment for the demand and supply of different types, designs and quality of bags available in the market.
- Maintain proper coordinate with project relevant staff.
- Submit weekly reports to the snr. livelihood project officer.
- Responsible for the vocational training project's overall success.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the snr. livelihood project officer to support the effective implementation of project activities.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum Diploma/ certificate in bag making.
- Minimum two years’ experience in bag making.
- Prior experience in training with INGO/NGO.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently
- Strong practical skills in bag making
- Good communication and teaching skills
- Patience and ability to work with vulnerable communities
- Time management and organizational skills
- Basic literacy (reading and writing skills required)
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to vocational instruction and ethical behaviors.
