MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

The objective of the Senior Cook position will be to prepare menus, meals, manage grocery money, and oversee assistant cook.  

Major Activities / Responsibilities:

• Based on input from expatriate staff, prepare menu plan for each week and manage grocery money.
• Prepare healthy meals Sunday – Thursday for dinner, including varied, seasonal vegetables, protein and carbohydrate.
• Cut up fruit for after dinner, and occasionally prepare a dessert such as apple tart, rice pudding, custard, for example.
• Oversee assistant cook, leaving tasks and instructions for the evening, ensuring he/she understands the preparation of the evening meal and any prep for the following day.
• Prepare ingredients for meals such as: wash vegetables, chop season vegetables & meat, etc.
• Squeeze juice
• Prepare oven, utensils, and grill for meal preparation.
• Follow food health and safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
• Maintain good personal hygiene.
• Store all food properly.
• Keep record and reorder stock and food supplies.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION:

• High School graduate with 4 years of relevant experience. Bachelor degree preferred. 

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:         

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a professional cook position for foreign staff.
• Experience working in an environment similar or closely related to iNGO type of work.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKLLS:

• Knowledge of food health and safety procedures.
• Knowledge of a wide variety of recipes and the ability to follow recipe instructions.
• Ability to operate a grill, oven and fryer

COMPETENCIES:

• Good ethical conduct
• Medically fit
• No criminal record
• Excellent inter-personal communication skills.
• Well-organized and detail-oriented.
