Job Summary

Position Summary

The Customs Clearance and Logistics Officer is responsible for coordinating customs clearance activities and managing logistics operations to ensure the efficient, timely, and compliant movement of goods. The incumbent will oversee import and export documentation, coordinate transportation and warehouse activities, liaise with customs authorities and freight service providers, and ensure adherence to national customs regulations and organizational policies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate customs clearance processes for imported and exported goods in compliance with national customs regulations.
  • Prepare, review, and submit customs documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, airway bills, certificates of origin, and customs declarations.
  • Liaise with customs authorities, freight forwarders, transport companies, and government agencies to facilitate timely customs clearance and delivery.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor domestic and international transportation of goods.
  • Track shipments and proactively resolve logistics and customs-related issues to minimize delays.
  • Coordinate the receipt, inspection, storage, and distribution of goods and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate logistics, customs, shipment, and inventory records.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational procurement, logistics, and customs procedures.
  • Monitor logistics costs and recommend cost-effective transportation and customs clearance solutions.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Finance, Warehouse, and Program teams to support operational requirements.
  • Prepare periodic logistics and customs reports for management.
  • Ensure proper filing and secure maintenance of customs and logistics documentation.
  • Support emergency logistics operations and other operational activities as required.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Required Skills

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of logistics, supply chain, transportation, and customs clearance processes.

  • Thorough understanding of national customs regulations, import/export procedures, and trade compliance requirements.

  • Ability to prepare, review, and process shipping and customs documentation accurately.

  • Experience in coordinating domestic and international shipments, freight forwarding, and cargo tracking.

  • Knowledge of inventory management, warehouse operations, and stock control procedures.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook); experience with ERP, inventory management, or logistics software is an asset.

  • Excellent planning, coordination, and organizational skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure while meeting strict deadlines.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Fluency in Pashto and/or Dari.

  • Proficiency in Turkish is highly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with customs authorities, government agencies, suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
