The vaccinators hired under this project will identify children with immunization needs, safely administer vaccines, refer children to immunization centers, support routine and campaign immunization activities, and contribute to reducing vaccine-preventable diseases through high-quality service delivery and community engagement.

TOR:

Vaccinators will carry out the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Identify children and women in need of vaccines
  • Administer vaccines to eligible children under five and PLW according to the national immunization schedule.
  • Ensure proper vaccine handling, cold chain maintenance, and storage in accordance with health standards.
  • Monitor the vaccination process, ensuring accurate dosage and safe administration.
  • Refer children and women in need of immunization
  • Prepare and maintain proper immunization records
  • Participate in routine immunization and planned vaccination campaigns.
  • Assist in the coordination and logistics related to field-based vaccination activities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete immunization records for all vaccinated individuals.
  • Update and manage immunization registers for monitoring and reporting purposes.
  • Issue vaccination cards or certificates to recipients as required.
  • Monitor and respond to adverse reactions post-vaccination, and report promptly as per protocol.
  • Provide post-vaccination advice and guidance to beneficiaries and caregivers.
  • Educate community members about the importance and benefits of vaccination.
  • Address myths, misconceptions, and fears about vaccines through clear, culturally sensitive communication.
  • Follow Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures during vaccination activities.
  • Ensure use of sterile equipment and procedures throughout the preparation and delivery of vaccines.
  • Properly dispose of medical and vaccination waste in line with health and safety guidelines.
  • Any other activities as related to the position or assigned by the supervisor

 

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma or certificate in nursing, midwifery, public health or related field
  • Formal training in immunization is highly preferred
  • Minimum one year of experience in related field
  • Ability to identify children and women in need of immunization, safely administer vaccines, national immunization schedule, vaccine-preventable diseases, adverse events following immunization and reporting procedures
