Job Description:

The Grants Acquisition Coordinator's role is to help secure funding for DACAAR's programs by writing strong grant proposals and managing donor relationships. This position collaborates with various teams to develop resources and support the long-term success of DACAAR's initiatives. The coordinator works under the Head of Fundraising & Communications.

Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Head of Fundraising & Communications, program, MEAL, and finance teams to produce competitive grant applications and budgets.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities through donor research and engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong donor relationships, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
  • Maintain an efficient grant tracking system to monitor deadlines, submissions, and reporting schedules.
  • Support donor reporting and facilitate knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Communicate regularly with DACAAR HQ on donor matters.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensure proposals comply with donor guidelines and align with DACAAR’s policies and strategic goals.
  • Gather technical input for proposals from Programme teams.
  • Coordinate joint proposal submissions with partners and consortium members.
  • Monitor donor trends, policies, and funding priorities relevant to Afghanistan.
  • Respond to donor queries on proposals and reports as assigned by the Head of the Department.
  • Represent DACAAR in donor meetings, networking events, and partnership discussions.
  • Communicate updates on funding opportunities to the Senior Management Team (SMT) in a timely manner.
  • Assist in reviewing donor agreements, contracts, and partnership documents.
  • Contribute to the development of quality project reports and ensure timely submission.
  • Enhance tools and resources for standardizing project proposal components.
  • Collaborate with the MEAL team to integrate lessons learned into future project designs and reporting.
  • Participate in quarterly and annual departmental planning sessions.
  • Undertake any other relevant tasks assigned by the Head of the Fundraising & Communications Department.
  • Follow organizational security policies and safety guidelines.

 

Education & Qualification Requirement:

Education: Minimum Master’s degree in International Development, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 7 years in grants acquisition, proposal writing, or fundraising, preferably with NGO/INGO setting.   

Other qualifications’ an advantage:

  • Strong proposal writing skills with a track record of securing grants from institutional donors (e.g., UN, EU, USAID, World Bank, DANIDA, NORAD etc.).
  • Excellent research, analytical, and budgeting skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Team player with cross-departmental coordination experience.     

Languages: English fluency in written and spoken is required.

Employment Benefits.

  • In addition to the monthly salary, the following package is also provided:
  • A return air ticket between employee home address and Kabul at the beginning and end of the assignment.
  • R&R: 5 paid working days of leave upon completing Eight weeks of continuous stay (excluding weekend and public holidays) inside Afghanistan.
  • Covering the expenses occurred (travel and accommodation) during R&R maximum up to USD 1400/- (One Thousand and four hundred US dollars only).
  • Annual Leave: 25 paid working days per year (2.08 days per month).
  • Public holidays: 10 days per year.
  • Travel, Health and life insurance coverage for the duration of your employment.
  • Accommodation: shared accommodation, reasonably furnished, all utility costs covered, civilian guard’s coverage 24/7, no housekeeping services provided.
  • Excess baggage allowance:  cost of maximum 20 kgs upon arrival and departure (provided based on receipts).
  • Free lunch during weekdays.
  • Pick up and drop service to and from work.
  • Accommodation while traveling to the field.
