Job Description:

 

  • Plan and organize orientation sessions on entrepreneurship, business idea development, and pre-incubation planning.
  • Facilitate the selection of high-potential trainees for incubation based on business idea feasibility assessments.
  • Support the selection of new startup candidates by reviewing proposals, pitches, and viability.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of incubation modules covering entrepreneurship, financial literacy, marketing, and product-market fit.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor startup performance and identify key challenges.
  • Develop and maintain detailed business profiles, records, and performance reports.
  • Identify gaps in tools, infrastructure, or support needed to sustain or grow the businesses.
  • Provide input for procurement plans for tools, machinery, materials, and rental support.
  • Establish partnerships with microfinance and Islamic finance institutions to enable access to startup capital or growth loans.
  • Assist beneficiaries in preparing financial documents and understanding loan terms and repayment.
  • Organize refresher trainings on financial literacy, bookkeeping, and budgeting.
  • Explore opportunities for online sales, local exhibitions, and private-sector partnerships.
  • Support entrepreneurs with branding, packaging, and pricing to improve product competitiveness.
  • Organize peer-to-peer learning sessions and group mentorship activities.
  • Facilitate connections between experienced business owners and new entrepreneurs.
  • Coordinate technical mentorship based on specific sector needs (ICT, GEMs, ECD, Handcraft, etc.).
  • Maintain up-to-date records of beneficiary businesses, mentorship activities, and financial linkages.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports summarizing business performance, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Document success stories, case studies, and lessons learned for donors and internal learning.

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Entrepreneurship, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in enterprise development, microfinance, or livelihood programs.

Other Skills

  • Strong leadership, communication, and budget management skills.
  • Understanding of IT skills development and the startup ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with business incubation, financial literacy, and startup ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of market systems and value chains in Afghanistan.
  • Experience working with microfinance institutions, cooperatives, or entrepreneurship support organizations is an asset.
  • Fluency in English, Dari and Pashto.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and remote areas.
  • Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of Islamic finance models is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
